Thank you for considering becoming a Minister of the Word, Lector, here at St. Pius X Catholic Community. Proclaiming the Word of God is a privilege that connects our congregation to the experience of God. We have a comprehensive program that will prepare you from becoming a reader to a proclaimer. 

Our program is a 4 step process...

1. A Conversation of Why and Faith Sharing
   • This conversation is a short discernment process questioning why you would like to become a lector.
   • Questions will be sent with the initial inquiry. The conversation and faith sharing continues from there.
2. Complete the Diocese of Tucson Safe Environment Protocol
   • Contact Aggie Froehlke or Linda Alexander to begin the compliance process.
   • Click here, VOLUNTEERING, to get started with the compliance process. 
3. Lector Training Part 1- Theory and Theology of Lectoring
   • You can complete this online training at home at your own pace. This can take anywhere from 2-3 hours, depending on the amount of reflection yhou choose to do.
4. Lector Training Part 2- The Nitty Gritty
   • During this in-person training, we will meet with others potential lectors for some faith sharing and reflection on what we learned in Part 1. 
   • Then, we will meet in church to go over proceedures and practice.
